With about two months left until SHOT Show 2020 opens the doors, information is beginning to drop in about what is going to be displayed in some of the booths. March Scopes is going to launch two new models. One of them is going to be the “5x-42x56mm” (First Focal Plane), a scope that will have the Widest Field of View among their models.
A magnification factor of 8.4 is a bit unusual, but if March can get an optic and a reticle that performs well in the 5-42x area it is always welcome. To compare, you have the Schmidt & Bender 5-45x with a power factor of 9.
March describes this scope as a crossover scope with many applications, not only suitable for shooting competitions but also very suitable for hunting as well.
March claim that the prototype optic has 26 degrees wide field of view.
There is no information about the second model at this stage.
NEW March Scope “5x-42x56mm” coming in 2020 Jan at the SHOT Show
This scope employs two new optical technologies.
1. “New High Master Lens System”
The High Master Lens System has 2 Super ED lens elements within its new lens system.
Optical characteristics of Super ED lens is even closer to pure fluorite crystal which has virtually no dispersion that result in chromatic aberration in the image.
By using Super ED lens elements, we can suppress chromatic aberration even more than with ED lenses and thus produce a sharper image with greater contrast, while still having a strong scope.
2. “Temperature Anti-Drift Lens System”
In the latest optical systems, a new lens material has been developed to accommodate changes in environmental temperature by altering the refractive index of the lenses.
This new lens material has been adopted for the new High Master optics to create a more stable lens system that naturally adapts to changes in temperature to maintain focus and clarity over a wide range of conditions.
I am not sure how much you can make out of the information above, and I guess some of it might be translated directly from Japanese.
From the March FX Wide Angle 5-42×56 mm HM leaflet, which may make more sense:
