Maverick Recoil Suppression System from Area 419

Area 419 has released the Maverick Recoil Suppression System. According to the company, the system is the first of its kind and works like a combination of a muzzle brake and a sound suppressor.

The target customer for this system, and many of Area 419’s products, is a Precision Rifle Series shooter and similar Long Range shooters, and possibly hunters.

I think the gold color is a nice touch against the black. The materials are American 17-4 Stainless and American Grade-5 Titanium.

    From the Product Release:

Area 419, a leading manufacturer of precision rifles and components, announces the Maverick Recoil Suppression System – a modular precision rifle suppressor system built around the muzzle control needs of competition shooters.

This system, made of American 17-4 stainless and American Grade-5 titanium, is the first of its kind and utilizes the patented Hellfire Self-Timing taper system to ensure appropriate timing and alignment of the modules.

“As competitors ourselves, we have always struggled with the compromise of performance and comfort that come with suppressors and brakes.” says Jon Addis, Founder and Owner of Area 419.

He continues “But when we had the idea for the Maverick, we knew we could build a system that didn’t compromise, changing the way competitors look at muzzle devices and control behind the rifle.

”The Maverick is being launched at the 2019 Precision Rifle Series finale, and will be used by several competitors. Objective testing – using high speed cameras, precision sound meters, and shooter-perspective footage – and subjective testing – performed by precision rifle competitors – have both verified the performance of the system, relative to comfort and muzzle control.

What makes the system different is the ability to configure the suppressor in two ways:

    1) Competition: 5.5” system with a self-timing brake end cap, providing muzzle control similar to ourSidewinder muzzle brake.

This shorter system will virtually eliminate the concussion common withbrakes, and will cut sound intensity at the shooter to bare-muzzle levels or below.

    2) Train/Hunt: 8” system, using the Stage 2 module, allowing a shooter to train or hunt at traditionalsuppressor sound levels.

This module will be produced from 100% Grade-5 Titanium, and will be available in either 6.5mm or 30 caliber bores.

Both configurations will weigh the same – approximately 15oz – so that you can change configurations withlittle to no shift in POI.

The patent-pending Maverick is in production with a prospective opening order date of 1/1/20 with initial shipments following quickly.

Maverick units will be shipped with the Stage 1 suppressor with either Hellfireor Sidewinder mount, “Stage 2” module in either 6.5mm or 30cal, and Maverick brake with a retail price of$1,300.

To my knowledge, this is TFB’s first article on anything from Area 419. I have a few of their ARCA Rail accessories and while I haven’t been able to use them in either training or competition they seem to be of very good quality and I’m prepared to recommend them on the basis of their invention and build quality alone.

Personally, I like shooting my Long Range Rifles suppressed, but a system like this would be of interest.

What do you think of the idea of combining a muzzle brake and a sound suppressor like this?
