Patriot Ordnance Factory (POF-USA) has announced the release of a new series of AR-15 pattern weapons called Minuteman. In POF-USA’s own words, the features seen in Minuteman rifles and pistols are “Everything a respectable rifle needs, and nothing it doesn’t“.

Here is how the company describes the philosophy of their Minuteman guns:

Minutemen were civilian colonists tasked with being a defensive force to be prepared at a moment’s notice. They took it upon themselves to be trained in various weapons and tactics. We deeply admire their patriotism and self-reliance. The “Minuteman” is our twist on what a direct impingement fighting carbine should be, topped with the controls and enhancements most important to remain mobile and light.

The Minuteman series of firearms currently include one rifle and one pistol. The rifle has a 16.5″ barrel with a 14.5″ rail, 34″ overall length (with the stock collapsed) and it weighs in at 6.2 lbs. The pistol has a 9″ rail, 10.5″ barrel and an overall length of 26.5″. The weight of the pistol is 5.5 lbs. The Minuteman guns come with the company’s Puritan nitrided barrels that have a 1:8 twist rate and 1/2×28 threaded muzzles with three-prong flash hiders installed. POF claims one MOA accuracy “with proper ammo and shooter ability“.

The Minuteman rifle comes with a Mission First Tactical stock and the pistol is equipped with an SB Tactical SBA3 brace. These are direct impingement firearms with a midlength gas system on the rifle and a carbine length one on the pistol. Both guns are chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO, however, on their social media pages and in the above-embedded video, the company mentioned that there will be .350 Legend versions too. The rifles come with Mission First Tactical 30-round magazines.

The POF-USA Minuteman rifles and pistols also feature the company’s E2 Dual Extraction Technology where the neck area of the chamber is fluted. The gasses entering these flutes push the neck out of the chamber walls and push the case itself rearward thus aiding the extraction process. Here is a video showing how this technology works.

Other features of Minuteman rifles include the rear QD sling swivel plate, POF Strike Eagle ambidextrous charging handle, and an ambidextrous safety selector. The POF 3.5lb single stage non-adjustable drop-in trigger that the Minuteman guns come with, has a straight trigger shoe and is secured in the lower receiver with KNS Precision anti-walk pins.

The free-floated rail has a top Picatinny rail, M-LOK slots on 3, 6 and 9 o’clock positions and a short Picatinny rail section on the very front bottom portion. The rails also feature five QD sling swivel sockets. These handguards are mounted on oversized heatsink barrel nuts.

The POF-USA 6-position buffer tube used in Minuteman rifles has an extension that the company calls “carrier cradle” which ensures that the bolt carrier is always supported by the buffer tube thus reducing the wear of the buffer tube and preventing the carrier tilt. This extension also surrounds the buffer retainer eliminating the possibility of buffer tube rotation.

Last but not least, the Minuteman rifles and pistols come with POF Enhanced Bolt Carrier Groups the most notable feature of which is probably the roller cam pin which should reduce the friction and wear in the upper receiver and make the action cycle smoother. The bolt and bolt carrier have a nitrided surface treatment and the firing pin is hard chrome plated.

The Minuteman rifles and pistols are available in black or tungsten color options. The MSRP of the rifle in black color is $1,409.99 and the black Minuteman pistol costs $1,469.99. For the tungsten color option, you’ll need to add $130 which makes the MSRPs for the rifle and pistol $1,539.99 and $1599.99 respectively.
