In Today’s Photo Of The Day we get some fresh air from the Austrian Mountains. We are looking at soldiers with the Sturmgewehr 77, the Steyr AUG (from Armee-Universal-Gewehr) which is a bullpup design in 5.56×45 mm NATO.

The pictures are from a multi-week training course, for soldiers from the international “ NATO Mountain Warfare Center of Excellence” to increase the knowledge for missions in the mountains

Which is the best way to “travel” in the mountains? By Quad-bike, horse or by rope?

Or on foot?

About the NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence:

The NATO Mountain Warfare Centre of Excellence (NATO MW COE) is a multi-nationally sponsored and accredited international military institution which offers recognized expertise and experience for the benefit of the Alliance and its member nations.
