POTD: Force Protection at Camp Bifrost in Bamako, Mali

In this Photo Of The Day, we take another look at Camp Bifrost in Bamako, Mali: A cold name for a hot place.

We’re looking at the Norwegian Force Protection during one of their exercises.

Above you’re looking at a Heckler & Koch HK416N (for Norway one may suppose) with some kind of fancy laser installation. Aimpoint red dot. Night vision goggles.

Below: the view from the guard tower.

The Norwegian HK416 variants are the HK416N, HK416K and HK416S.

I think this is an FN MAG, as it took over after the Rheinmetall MG3 (which is still used by the Home Guard).

Another soldier with an HK416N and a fancy laser system. Can any of our readers identify the make and model?

All of the photographs are from the Norwegian Defense / Forsvaret and taken by Onar Digernes Aase.
