POTD: Snipers from Finnmark (Norway)

Today we take a look at some Norwegian soldiers from the Finnmark Land Command training with soldiers from the Home Guard.

The Norwegian Army, including the Home Guard, has a very fancy taste in firearms. All that oil money needs to go somewhere…

In the story below you can see the HK417 used as a combination of Sniper Rifle and Designated Marksman Rifle.

You will also spot the Barret M82 (M107). It’s a semi-automatic sniper / anti-materiel rifle, using the 12,7×99 mm (.50 BMG) round. For more reference, high-quality photos of the Barret have a look here.

Ghille suits, Heckler & Koch HK416 and HK417.

The HK417 replaced the NM149 in the Norwegian Armed Forces

The sniper and the spotter working together. Looks like they are using a Hensoldt spotter.

The rifle scope is a Schmidt & Bender PMII, not sure which model.

    The M82 at work again.
