POTD: German Kampfschwimmers with G28s and G29s

Fire from above in this Picture Of The Day, as a German Kampfschwimmer (“Combat Swimmer”) aims his G28 rifle towards the ground.

He’s riding an H145M LUH SOF battlefield support helicopter. According to Airbus, it’s “a medium-sized military multi-role helicopter capable of performing a wide spectrum of missions with a common platform, from transport, SAR, and medevac to armed scout.

Notice how he put the Tourniquet on the velcro of his uniform (UF Pro, I think), out of the arm pocket. Pretty clever, I will try that.

The G28 is a Heckler & Koch HK417 A2, which may be fitted with the HK GLM grenade launcher in some cases, and the Rheinmetall LLM Vario-Ray and various different optics depending on the mission (Aimpoint in this case).

Below you can see a sniper team. Notice the old bullet holes in the construction, not good.

TFB covered the New German Army G29 Sniper Rifle (Haenel RS9 in .338 LM) already in 2016, so please check the link for more details.

The G29 normally comes with a Steiner Military 5–25×56 scope in an Era-Tac mount, with an Aimpoint T2 on the side. Obviously, this G29 has another red dot mounted. They can use a B&T sound suppressor as well.

The pistol looks like a Heckler & Koch VP9.

    From Haenel about the RS9:

The precision rifle RS9 (Rifle System 9) is the most powerful variant of the Haenel RS-family. The rifle is used from Special Forces of the police and is fitted with the calibre .338 Lapua Magnum. The rifle has been introduced to the German army as sniper rifle G29 on average ranges.

In the video below you can see moving images from the operation.
