Introduced at SHOT Show 2019, the Odin Works CQ-S (Close Quarter Stock) is now available for purchase. This AR-15 stock system has a micro buffer and flat wire spring which allow having a much shorter buffer tube that extends behind the lower receiver by only five inches. The short buffer tube, in its turn, makes for a really compact package when the adjustable MP-5 style stock is fully collapsed.

The CQ-S stock is also spring loaded which allows you to quickly deploy it upon pressing the release button. The stock has five length adjustment settings resulting in a length of pull from 7.875″ to 12″. There are also two ambidextrous QD sling swivel sockets – one at the toe of the stock and another one closer to the receivers which provide efficient attachment points for both single and two-point slings. In Odin Works’ own words, this stock is also a “beard friendly snag free” one which is something that will definitely be appreciated by those of you who are running a tactical facial hair system.

The installation of Odin Works CQ-S Stock is accomplished by inserting the buffer tube into the extended stock then threading it into the receiver. After having it hand tight, then you’ll need to fully collapse the stock to get access to the rectangular cut at the rear of the buffer tube to properly tighten it in with a 1/4″ drive wrench. The buffer and buffer spring are installed into the buffer tube just like their standard AR-15 counterparts. Here is a video showing the installation process.

The Odin Works CQ-S stock is listed on the company’s website at an MSRP of $249. The package includes the receiver extension, stock assembly, buffer and flat wire spring as shown in the below-embedded image.

At SHOT Show 2019, Odin Works also introduced the brace version of this system called CQ-B (Close Quarter Brace). I suspect it will be launched soon, so stay tuned to learn about the release of the brace.
