HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Sweet Bullpup Blaster or Bubba Disaster?

Welcome everyone to the 27th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’. If you’re new to the series (you’ve been missing out) this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this gat a sweet deal or does it only have Fudd appeal? Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you the readers, by the thinnest of margins, decided the Nickel Plated Ruger wasn’t worth that pretty penny.

Sadly, the nickel-plated Ruger P89 would not end up selling.  The bidding ended at $500 and the reserve was somehow not met.  At this time the seller has yet to re-list the item, so we can only assume they decided to keep that gat for themselves.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we look at a bubba-built Bullpup SKS. As is tradition, this strangely converted Yugoslavian blaster is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $675.00 Buy It Now.

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Sweet Bullpup Blaster or Bubba Disaster?

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“$675???? Back in my day, you could get an SKS for a nickel!  A nickel, I say…” – Rusty S.

“Thanks to this conversion your SKS will become a bullpup, French for assault rifle” – Giorgio O.

“I thought those pictures were evidence of seized firearms.” – Nick C.

A large mound is forming over Sergei Siminov’s grave by the constant tumbling of his angry corpse. It’s this rifle’s fault.” – Luke C.

“The last time I saw that SKS chassis it was coming out of a drug dealer’s weapons cache. I’m not even joking.” – Benjamin F.

Selling this strange bullpup conversion is GunBroker seller MidlandTradingPost, located in Conception, Missouri.  Let’s see what they had to say about this bullpup conversion:

Yugoslavian SKS with Shernic Gun Works bullpup stock. Original wooden stock included. Wooden piston cover NOT included. Tapco Duckbill Mag has been ground some to function in stock. Comes with original 10 round fixed magazine and what you see in the pictures. The seller of this item assumes all responsibility for this listing. You must contact the seller to resolve any questions or concerns before placing a bid. Payment must be made using U.S. dollars ($) unless otherwise stated in the listing. Firearms may only be shipped to a licensed dealer (FFL Holder). Some listed items may not be legal in every state. Complete your purchase within the law. Please see my other listings PLEASE understand that your specific situation for example being retired on a tight budget or having any kind of health problems will not change the value of the gun/item. I have my own problems also. Please be considerate and respectful. THANK YOU.

What we have here is a no-bs “I know what I’ve got” type auction.  This is clearly a high-quality build, and it feels no sympathy towards your financial problems.  Seriously though, if you want a headache, try reading the full item description on GunBroker.

At least this seller was thoughtful enough to keep the original furniture when they did the conversion.  All too often you see these rifles converted, and wonder if the original parts ended up in a dumpster somewhere.

I don’t think you’d ever recoup your $675 dollars if you ever tried to re-sell this SKS, even if SKS prices have been on the rise. Still, I doubt that this one, even with the included accessories, would fetch that $675.

What do you think?  Is this SKS Bullpup a Hot Gat or just some Bubba-fied Fudd Crap?  Be sure to let us know in the comments below, and cast your vote to let us know if this Bullpup Blaster is a Hot Gat or Fudd Crap:
