POTD: Purple Haze

Purple Haze from The Jimi Hendrix Experience (link opens in a separate window so you can listen as you read) is a fitting description to the picture above.

Purple haze all in my eyes
Don’t know if it’s day or night
You got me blowin’, blowin’ my mind
Is it tomorrow, or just the end of time?

The picture is from the NATO enhanced Forward Presence Battle Group, as the patrols trained in the Strautini Training Area, as part of the Exercise Tomahawk Patrolling.

The rifle has a Night Vision scope from BAE systems called the PAS-13C. Thanks to Nicholas C for the help with the identification.

In the early 2000s, BAE Systems received two contracts to supply the US Army with thermal weapon sights (TWS) where BAE Systems supplied about 4,500 AN/PAS-13C systems.

The system provided army infantry with the ability to detect and enlarge targets in all weather and battlefield conditions – even Purple Haze by the looks of it!

POTD, short for Photo Of The Day, is TFB’s recurring articles where we go to great length trying to find the best pictures out there.
