Compared to its predecessor, TRIBUS has two more QD sling swivel sockets on the sides in addition to the central one. The extended design of the end plate and the matching length castle nut besides reinforcing this critical area on the rifle also allow having the QD swivels a little bit more rearward thus decreasing the chance of the swivel pinching or rubbing against your hand. According to Strike Industries, this feature “allows weapons manipulations in tight spaces and under stress, without the startling pain that can result from a pinched hand when using a sling attached to a standard, flat QD end plate“. The downside of this extended part is that you won’t be able to fully collapse the stock losing the first position of the standard adjustable stocks.

Note the distance between the web of shooter’s hand and the sling swivel.

Another improvement is the anti-rotation feature of the castle nut which is achieved by tightening the set screw as shown in the below-embedded image. This prevents the castle nut from unintentionally coming loose. Here is how the company describes the benefits of this anti-rotation design.

The revolutionary Tribus includes a genius mechanism that allows the castle nut to have full anti-walk capabilities. The days of the castlenut unthreading itself from the buffer tube are over. Also, with the threaded set screw design, there will never be a need to stake through the endplate and buffer tube, permanently ruining your receiver.

The endplate of this accessory also features a groove designed to make the takedown pin detent spring installation easier. The installation of TRIBUS Enhanced Castle Nut and Extended End Plate is shown in the video below.

Here are also some important information concerning the installation of this product:

Required Tools: The castle nut was meant to be installed using an adjustable or fixed spanner wrench. A traditional Ar multitool or wrench can work but may cause damage to the castle nut.

*Due to dimensional tolerances between some manufacturer’s receiver extension collar lengths and differing amount of true threads on various buffer tubes, some may experience difficulties installing. Please contact info@strikeindustries.com for a replacement castle nut if you cannot install.
