Glock 43X and Glock 48 are the newest and coolest CCW guns offered by the famous Austrian handgun manufacturer. By having single stack magazines and thin grips these pistols are perfect for carrying concealed. However, the tradeoff is the capacity of 10 rounds with flush fit magazines. Well, for those of you who would love to have more ammo within the same dimensions, looks like there is a solution on the market. Shield Arms announced that their S15 G43X/G48 flush-fit magazines that hold 15 rounds of 9mm ammunition are now available for preorder.

That sounds impressive, doesn’t it? It means you can have the same magazine dimensions but 50% more capacity. Your G43X or G48 can now hold as much ammunition as the Glock 19 and do it without a magazine extension. Here is how the company describes these magazines and explains the way they achieved a higher capacity:

The S15 magazine is a flush-fitting 15 round magazine for the Glock® 43X and Glock® 48. The S15 is a steel magazine, and is the same length as the OEM Glock® 10 round magazine, but holds an additional 5 rounds.

We accomplished this increased capacity with the magazine geometry, allowing the rounds to stagger, thereby fitting more in the same amount of space.

If I understand correctly, the reason they were able to have staggered column of cartridges in the S15 magazines is that in a steel body magazine that has the same external dimensions as the OEM Glock magazine you can have more internal space due to the lack of thick polymer walls seen in standard magazines. If that is the design solution, then I guess you can gain not only more internal width but also length which makes me think if it is possible to design such steel 10mm Auto magazines that will fit .40 S&W Glock frames?
