Thanks to an anonymous source for sending this cringeworthy content. On September 4, 2019, the 11 RGK (11th Special Forces Regiment) of Malaysia held a demonstration. This Malaysian body armor demonstration failure resulted in the death of a Major on his way to the hospital.

According to my source, the 11RGK is the pointy end of the spear for Malaysia. They are a counter-terrorist special forces group. According to Wikipedia, the 21 Grup Gerak Khas (21st Special Forces Group) is comprised of three regiments. One of which is the 11 Regiment Gerak Khas (RGK) for counter terrorism.

It is also called the Counter-Terrorism Regiment as it specialises in dealing with a broad range of operations (especially counter-terrorism operations), hostage rescue, Counter-Revolutionary Warfare etc. Trained by the British 22nd SAS and US Army Green Berets, this regiment is smaller compared to 21st and 22nd Commando Regiment, and is organised into 4 Sabre Squadrons. Only those who have served no less than 6 years in the Commando Regiments are eligible for selection.

Below is a video that was filmed during the 11 RKG demonstration. The person in the white shirt is a Major in the group. He shoots a Lieutenant Colonel with a 9mm Glock 17. The Lt. Col. then gets back up and shoots the Major in the back.

Take a look at this second video clip taken from a different vantage point. It is a little bit longer and the videographer zoomed in so we can see more information.

At 44 seconds into the video above you can hear the Major get shot. The sound is quite distinct. You can hear a whizzing sound. This causes me to think that perhaps the Major was not wearing body armor at all? According to my source, the photo below is of the Major who was shot. This photo was obviously taken prior to him getting shot. But look at what he is wearing.

Now it is not uncommon for soldiers to wear plates underneath their 1990s tactical Blackhawk looking vests and my source is not sure if he did so prior to getting shot. But the whizzing sound is highly suspicious to me. The fact that the Major went ragdoll and dropped to the ground is evidence of a spinal injury. In the video above you can see the Major trying to lift his head after hitting the ground. Unfortunately, he died on the way to the hospital.

I never understand the thought process that these special forces units go through that testing body armor is a good idea with live rounds WHILE SOMEONE IS WEARING IT!!!???

Arguments of “soldiers should know how it feels to get shot” is just asinine. No matter how highspeed you think you are, do not try this at home or on the base or during a military demonstration.

According to my source, the supplier of body armor to this elite group is Pakian Saling Erti Sdn Bhd and they collaborate with Dyneema. However, the quality of their armor is very poor. The problem with many units in Malaysia, like the 11 RGK, is that they do not have a good grasp of how body armor works. They don’t understand ratings or that you shouldn’t “Test” your body armor.

Unfortunately this Major lost his life over a stupid demonstration. I hope this is a hard-learned lesson for them and they re-evaluate their decisions and choices. Hopefully, they will choose better armor in the near future.
