We have made it all the way into the month of September for 2019! This officially marks our 11th edition of the Reader’s Choice Awards where we choose firearm and related accessory categories, and let you vote on the BEST ones in the industry. For September, our category for discussion is the BEST Aftermarket Trigger! There are a lot of good factory triggers in firearms nowadays, but there are just as many horrible ones. So for that very reason it is pretty popular to get drop-in triggers or simple upgrades you can install yourself. A good trigger can go a long way for one’s confidence to shoot a firearm and our accuracy on the other end. With all of that being said, let’s dive right on in and begin!
This is the 11th installment for our Reader’s Choice Awards. Based on feedback from our Subject-Matter-Experts, which are all of our beloved readers, we play around with the selection criteria and nominations. Many of you comment every month that you felt certain products were missing and should have been included on past lists. So in general:
- Each month we are going to host a poll that you can vote on
- Each month will be a different category (Optics, Revolver, Bolt Action Rifle, Concealed Carry Pistol, etc)
- The list of entries will be curated from the top sales in the preceding six months. This is solely to introduce some objectivity into it; there must be some popularity if it tops the sales list (or is horrifically expensive)
- You can vote for your choice every day while the poll is running and you can earn an extra entry for telling us WHY you chose it (we will pick some of the most creative and highlight them during the results post)
- At the end of the month, we will post the winning choice (along with the other results) and the company will get some bragging rights (if they want them).
You, the readers, get to suggest items that should be part of this poll. We will troll our own comments section and look for suggestions that have four (4) or more “upvotes,” and those will be added to the poll. Since you will be allowed to vote daily, there is always a chance that your suggestion could make it to the top! Even if you are late to the game in making a suggestion, we have already seen late entries gain momentum and make it very high in the voting!
Normally, we attempt to establish a baseline for your suggestions and voting every month so we are all kind of on the same page. With this new category of the BEST Aftermarket Triggers, we are looking for any and all triggers. It can be for AR-15s… Glocks… AK-47s… bolt-actions… shotguns… you name it! If there is an aftermarket trigger floating around in the industry that you absolutely love, let us know what it is! Maybe enough people will vote for it that it will win our Reader’s Choice Award, or it will at least inform a lot of readers about a product they might not have heard of before.
Like always, suggestions can run the gauntlet from the el’ cheapos to the ultra expensive. The only problem is you need a rational argument for why you made your selection. So cheap or expensive, household name brand or specialty company… we will take any and all suggestions for BEST Aftermarket Trigger. Other than that, we as always are open to your suggestions through the Comments section. If you wholly believe something we did not mention is deserving of being on the list and winning… Let us know!
Once again, please Vote daily… provide us in the Comments with your own suggestions for the MANUFACTURER, MODEL NAME, and any other valuable information related to your suggestion so we all know what you are rooting for as the BEST Aftermarket Trigger… and entertain these BEST Aftermarket Trigger suggestions to start (in no specific order)…
TFB BEST aftermarket trigger
The complete absence of take up and over-travel and incredibly short reset, makes this fire control system the best possible compromise between precision and speed for action or tactical rifle competition. Again, this system is the choice of many professional shooters—Bennie Cooley, Bruce Piatt, Tony Holmes, Don Bednorz, Taran Butler, Kyle Lamb, Tom Carpenter, Don Golembesky, Kurt Miller, and many other pro level shooters compete with JP rifles or rifles equipped with a JP Fire Control System. Many well-known custom gunsmiths recommend JP components. Six other major manufacturers of these rifles use JP components in their fire control groups. What more can we say? The original JP Fire Control System has become the benchmark of single stage triggers.
The AR Diamond Trigger was built for top competitive shooters to offer the most accurate and dependable trigger on the market. Featuring Frictionless Release Technology™, this drop-in AR trigger has a short, two-stage action, designed to feel like a 1911 trigger, that provides a true zero-creep break, extremely short overtravel, a sub 0.015” tactical reset and offers outstanding reliability, even in the harshest environments. Utilizing CLKR Technology™, the pull weight is quickly and confidently adjusted from 1.5 – 4.0 lbs in 2oz increments from a set screw with the trigger installed. Due to there being truly zero creep, most shooters report the pull weights feeling ~0.5lbs lighter than a friction based trigger of the same measured pull weight. Changing the pull weight does not affect hammer force so you get dependable primer strikes at every weight. Frictionless Release Technology™, along with hardened 440C stainless steel internal components ensure corrosion resistance and an extended service life. As Frictionless Release Technology™ does not rely on coating, polishing or lubricating the key engagement surfaces, trigger pulls will be more consistent from shot to shot and after thousands of shots than you ever thought possible.

Timney’s customers have been asking for a dedicated Remington Model 700 trigger for their long-range shooting and competition M700 platform rifles. They asked, Timney delivered – The Hit. Timney’s engineers took a look at their M700 triggers and came up with a design that features new geometry. The HIT is robust and features our new Sear Engagement Adjustment Lock design (SEAL’d) that ensures a user-friendly experience, is adjustable for pull weight and overtravel, yet delicate enough to be set with a pull weight as low as 8 ounces up to 2 pounds. Every part of The Hit is machined using state-of-the-art technology – no skimping with metal injection molding or stamped, old-school parts. The trigger’s sear and trigger shoe are precision-machined, heat treated to 56 Rockwell with a black oxide trigger coating and an NP-3 plated sear for maximum lubricity and a lifetime of reliable performance. The Hit is backed by the legendary Timney No Hassle, Lifetime Warranty.
The Binary Firing System ™ GEN 3 (BFSIII™) is a 3-position trigger. In position 3 it fires one round on pull and one round on release, making it the fastest semi-automatic trigger on the market. This trigger is ideal for both tactical and competition use. The BFSIII™ provides greatly reduced split times between rounds, allowing for tighter groups.
Built on the chassis of the Geissele SSA, the Super Semi-Automatic Enhanced (SSA-E) provides enhanced trigger control and weapon accuracy while maintaining the robustness and reliability of our combat-proven two-stage trigger. The SSA-E’s reduced first and second stage pull weights result in a trigger with a smooth, light first stage take-up and a crisp, candy cane-like second stage break. The SSA-E is ideal for use in precision Squad Designated Marksman type rifles where weapon accuracy and reliability are critical and a non-adjustable drop in trigger is desired.
The Action Enhancement Kit for Glock pistols features the Apex Action Enhancement Trigger, with Gen 3 Factory Trigger Bar, Apex Ultimate Safety Plunger for Glock and Apex Performance Connector.
