The third seal is broken and another horseman has arrived – meet the FAMINE. Back in 2018 Meridian Defence Corporation announced a series of custom AK rifles themed after the four horsemen of the apocalypse – Pestilence, War, Famine, Death. They first released the PESTILENCE, then in May of 2019 they introduced an RPK pattern rifle, the WAR, and now the FAMINE is unveiled.

APOCALYPSE AK SERIES

THE SPECIAL PROJECTS DIVISION “APOCALYPSE” AK RIFLES, ARE A LIMITED EDITION RUN OF FOUR DIFFERENT RIFLES, ALL BASED OFF OF THE FOUR HORSEMAN OF THE APOCALYPSE (PESTILENCE, WAR, FAMINE, DEATH). WE WANTED TO CREATE A UNIQUE SERIES OF RIFLES THAT ARE COMPLETELY NEW, THAT HAVE A “END OF THE WORLD” APOCALYPSE FEEL & LOOK, BUT WITHOUT SACRIFICING OUR BUILD QUALITY AND PRECISION PARTS THAT ARE ON ALL OF OUR RIFLES.

The MDC FAMINE is an AK pistol chambered in 7.62x39mm. It is equipped with an SB Tactical SBA3 brace mounted on the company’s M4 folding tube which is attached to a side folding rear trunnion with 4.5mm hinge pin. This pistol is build using Romanian military parts kits and MDC’s 1mm stamped heat treated receivers. The 10.5″ black nitrided barrels are made in the US from 4150 CMV steel. The front sight block/gas block combination part is a Russian one originally made for AK 104/105 rifles. The muzzle thread pitch is 24×1.5mm and the gun comes with a US-made 4-piece flash hider.

The wooden handguard of FAMINE pistol has been stripped from the original finish and refinished with MDC’s “Apocalypse” stain and the gun itself features the company’s hand-applied Battleworn finish. For attaching a scope, you have two options on this pistol – a standard AK receiver-mounted side rail and an UltiMAK railed gas tube. This pistol also comes with a US-made and tuned trigger mechanism and a Tango Down pistol grip.

Meridian Defense Corporation Apocalypse Series FAMINE pistol is available for preorder at an MSRP of $1,899. It ships with one steel magazine. The estimated lead time is 6-8 weeks.
