The German company IEA Mil-Optics GmbH have received another order from German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).

The size of the order is in the region of “a medium 3-digit number” and the product is L3Harris’ Ground Panoramic Night Vision Goggle, using the latest 3rd generation unfilmed black/white tubes.

From the announcement:

“The L3Harris GPNVG (Ground Panoramic Night Vision Goggle) is one of the most powerful night vision goggles and has a field of view of 97°. Thus it comes very close to the natural human field of view of approx. 120°. Compared to conventional night vision goggles with 40-50° field of view, the lateral head movement is reduced and objects or persons can be detected much faster. The increased vision at night considerably improves the soldier’s safety” said Alexander Engelhardt, Key Account Manager of IEA Mil-Optics GmbH.

The US manufacturer L3Harris is one of the leading suppliers in the area of night vision devices and thermal imaging technology as well as laser aiming systems for special units worldwide and is able to supply high-end and marketable material within the shortest possible time. This ensures maximum safety for the user and minimum risks for the procurement authority (products available on the market do not have to be developed over several years during the procurement process). Thanks to the good cooperation between the procurement authority, the user and L3Harris / IEA Mil-Optics GmbH, such projects can be completed within a few months.

IEA MIL-OPTICS GmbH was founded in 2000 and is one of the leading suppliers of night vision technology and special equipment for special forces as well as the exclusive representative of L3Harris Integrated Land Systems in Central Europe. In addition to manufacturing and sales, IEA Mil-Optics GmbH also specializes in the repair and modernization of US night vision equipment for the entire European market.

GROUND PANORAMIC NIGHT VISION GOGGLE GPNVG

The Ground Panoramic Night Vision Goggle (GPNVG) is a wide field-of-view, helmet-mounted Image Intensified (I2) night vision device with white phosphor tube technology for improved target detection and recognition. Low-light and nighttime maneuvers appear more natural in black and white, with added contrast detail in shapes and shadows providing the operator more visual information for assessment and acquisition. White phosphor offer various shades of intensity between black and white (over black and green), resulting in better contrast and depth perception.

The GPNVG uses commercially available 18 mm MX-10160 I2 tubes and is ruggedized for ground applications. Leveraging the design of the Aviation PNVG (AN/AVS-10), the GPNVG’s wide 97° panoramic field-of-view provides increased situational awareness during periods of reduced light and night operations. Individual monoculars can be detached from the system and powered with the included power adapter to provide a low-profile handheld NVG.

– Wide panoramic 97° field-of-view image with no loss of visual acuity in outer channels

– Uses four commercially available 18 mm MX-10160 style I2 tubes

– Interpupillary, tilt and fore & aft adjustments available depending on the system’s bridge

– Available with ANVIS or BNVIS mount for use with multiple helmet and mount configurations

– Modular design for maintenance and support

– Individual monoculars can be detached from the system and powered with the included power adapter to provide a covert handheld NVG

– Optional cold-weather battery pack, with selectable IR beacon, provides better performance in cold temperatures using readily available AA batteries
