POTD: Visit, Board, Search and Seizure

In this Photo Of The Day, you can see Sgt. Charles Schilling, from Port Angeles, Washington, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Battalion Landing Team 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, as he provides security on the bridge wing of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) during a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) drill with the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48).

Aviation Boatswain’s Mate (Handling) 3rd Class Deon Sanders, from New York, signals to a CH-53E Super Stallion helicopter, assigned to the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) “Dragons” of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron (VMM) 265 (Reinforced), as it takes off from the flight deck of the amphibious transport dock ship USS Green Bay (LPD 20) during a visit, board, search and seizure (VBSS) drill with the amphibious dock landing ship USS Ashland (LSD 48). Green Bay and Ashland, part of the Wasp Amphibious Ready Group, with embarked 31st MEU, are operating in the Indo-Pacific region to enhance interoperability with partners and serve as a ready-response force for any type of contingency, while simultaneously providing a flexible and lethal crisis response force ready to perform a wide range of military operations.

This is almost like having your own, very expensive, drone and remote controlling it via hand signals.

-Yeah, go right. Sorry I mean your left.
