In today’s Photo Of The Day, we look (above) for a U.S. Special Forces soldier as he fires the Senegalese special forces’ Galil sniper rifle. This was as a part of an interoperability training during Exercise Flintlock 2019, near Po, Burkina Faso, in February 2019. Note Mk 17 behind the Galil.

Yes, I had to Google too to find the location of Burkina Faso. But stay tuned for some more M240 and Mk17 FN SCAR photos.

Flintlock 2019 built the capacity of participating nations to support regional cooperation, security and interoperability.

All of the photos are taken by U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Mary S. Katzenberger.

Below: That’s a pretty short carbine.

Approximately 2,000 service members from more than 30 African and western partner nations are participating in Flintlock 2019 at multiple locations in Burkina Faso and a key outstation in Mauritania. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Mary S. Katzenberger)

More people should know about Burkina Faso, especially in light of recent events there.
