TFB Review: Two-Point, Fast Adjustment Rifle Sling From S2 Delta

    S2 Delta Fast Adjustment Sling

The guys over at S2 Delta gave me an opportunity to test out their two-point, fast adjustment rifle sling.  The sling they sent was their padded version with a quick detach sling swivel.  This was my first jaunt into fast adjust sling territory and I was glad for the chance to try one out.

TFB REVIEW: S2 DELTA FAST ADJUSTment, TWO-POINT RIFLE SLING

The example sent to me from S2 Delta was their coyote colored option.  The sling comes with plastic side release buckles on both ends to allow for different mounting options. The three options include: push button, quick detach; C.L.A.S.H. hooks, also known as H&K style hooks; and nylon webbing for directly attaching the sling to the sling mount already installed on a rifle or shotgun.  I was able to put the quick detach swivel on the free-floated rail on my AR-15.  I had an extra sling hook that I looped onto the back end of the sling to use on the buttstock.

About a third of the S2 Delta fast adjustment sling is 2 inches wide where it lands on the shoulder for extra weight distribution.  I still felt some of the buckle and excess strap on the back of my shoulder though, so I placed the pad to cover the hardware closest to the buttstock, which made it very comfortable all around.

USING THE S2 DELTA FAST ADJUSTMENT, TWO-POINT SLING

The feature that really stands out is the fast adjustment capability.  Going from a loose sling to a tight one in seconds adds versatility to the rifle itself.  I found tightening the sling for off-hand shots at 200 yards quite handy for being able to wrap into it for more stabilization.  The pull tab, which is made of the same color and material as the sling, was easy to find and manipulate.  I’ve seen other designs with the fast adjustment feature that incorporate a different colored pull tab for easier peripheral identification.  Having a different colored pull tab may help in that regard, but I didn’t have any problem locating the tab quickly while keeping my eyes on the target.  Even if you prefer to have a different color tab, it’s a small part that can easily be cut off and replaced with a color of your choice if you can sew, or know someone that can.

Tightening the S2 Delta sling gave more stability for engaging this 200-yard target with 4 hits out of 5 shots.

It’s not often that I find the need to walk or run around with a rifle slung.  However, I wanted to put the sling to longer use to report back to those that go for hours manning active crime scene perimeters or checkpoints.  I decided to lug my rifle around the house for a day as I went about various tasks, including baking and cooking.  The rifle mainly hung out on my back, but for times I didn’t need my hands, it rested on my chest.  The S2 Delta sling’s wide straps really helped even out the weight of my 8 lb AR.  The only thing I had to be mindful of was making sure the muzzle wasn’t going to bump into doorways.  I opted not to wear my rifle outdoors too much, so as not to alarm passersby (the neighbors already know I’m different).

S2 Delta’s first rifle optic (1-4×24) is also mounted on the rifle. Stay tuned for the upcoming review.

S2 Delta’s Two-Point, Fast Adjustment Sling has been a breath of fresh air after using simple two-point slings that require a minute or more to adjust the length.  As I stated before, the fast adjust feature really adds versatility to the rifle, whether you’re shooting, or if you just need to sling the rifle over your shoulder.  You can check out S2 Delta’s website HERE, as well as the Two-Point, Fast Adjustment Sling HERE or on Amazon.com HERE.  They are listed from $29.99 to $49.98.  You can also follow S2 Delta on Facebook.
