Have you ever seen someone snag a great deal and wondered what kind of perfect storm had to happen for it to exist? TFB reader and Reddit user Zach happened across a CZ 75 B Omega pistol in a local pawn shop for quite a steal, at $280. While it’ll be hard to match Matt E’s $49 Remington 870 pawn shop find, Zach’s deal is quite impressive given that a CZ Omega has a new MSRP of $587 according to CZ’s website. Zach’s new-to-him pistol isn’t a new, off-the-line model, but even a lightly used example of a CZ would typically bring considerably more than what he paid.
In discussing the Omega with other Redditors, Zach indicated that his new pistol would need some tender loving care, as the previous owner most likely did not clean it. He said that the slide and frame were in pretty good shape, as the photo implies, but the bore appeared to have rusted. Zach attributed the state of the barrel to the price coming as low as it did. If you are familiar with CZ 75’s, you’ve probably already noticed the aftermarket grip panels as well as the aftermarket sight set. The grip panels are VZ Grips and list for $75 on VZ’s website. The sight set appears to be TRUGLO’s TFX model which is designed with fiber optics and tritium inserts for true day and night shooting. TRUGLO lists their TFX sights for $165.99 on their website. The last icing on the cake of the Omega find is that Zach got all the original parts in the deal as well.
Considering that the cost of the aftermarket parts come pretty close to the $280, I think it’s fair to say that Zach walked away with quite a steal. Even if he replaces the barrel, he’s still coming in ahead. What do you think about Zach’s new CZ 75 B Omega? Have you been scouring local pawn shops in hopes of finding your own steal? Have you found one yourself?
