Buck Knives Upgrades the Compadre Camping Line

Yes, we know it: Firearms not Politics… nor Flamethrowers, Crossbows or Knives. However, while politics will always be off limits, a bit of deviation from the “firearms only” rule can sometimes happen, if we talk about related gear. Now that we’ve set aside the topic of the first comments, let’s look at the new products from Buck Knives.

Here below the full press release:

Compadre Series Gets a New Cerakote® Coating and Micarta® Handles

Propelled by the growing popularity in outdoor recreational tools, Buck Knives has added new handle and blade coatings to the popular Compadre Series line of outdoor rugged tools.

Specifically crafted for life in the outdoors, the popular Compadre Series maintains the much-appreciated features and advantages, but now includes a Cerakote® Cobalt coating to help prevent rust and corrosion while adding to the overall aesthetics. The knife, axe, and chopping froe all feature natural canvas Micarta® handles and full tang construction for added strength and durability for strenuous outdoor activities.

    108 Compadre Froe

Buck Knives 108 Compadre Camp Froe.

The Compadre Froe is a heavy-duty, durable, multi-purpose wood working tool that is ideal for outdoor activities. Composed of 5160 steel, the 9 ½” blade is perfect for clearing brush, heavy chopping, splitting, and batoning. Weighing under 2 lbs. and with an overall length of 16 3/4”, the Compadre Froe is the right size for all outdoor tasks. Genuine leather sheath included. MSRP: $180

The well thought out design and unique features of the Compadre Series make these products a must have for the outdoor enthusiast. All products proudly made in the USA and backed by Buck’s famous Forever Warranty.

It is refreshing to see some outdoor oriented models being manufactured in honest carbon steel. The current trends prefer the use of stainless steels which offer great resistance to corrosion, but may be too hard for actual use and field re-sharpening. These models from Buck Knives seem to marry a popular finish and handle material with tried and trusted shapes and steel. The Froe in particular looks like a blade which could be particularly performing.
