POTD: Minigun Monday III
Three is a magic number – and this is the third edition of the Photo Of The Day: Minigun Monday, where we admire pictures of Miniguns in various places.
We are now in California, at the Marine Corps Air-Ground Combat Center Twentynine Palms. Or “MCAGCC” for short.
U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. William Chockey, Team Leader, Communication Strategy and Operations, Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command, is having a good time as he fires a Mk 44 minigun.
Below: Before you think “that’s my tax money at work, hitting the sand in a desert somewhere” notice the vehicle-like targets. He seems to be a few mils low, however.
Unfortunately, we cannot offer sound clips to these wonderful images. But I’m sure you can imagine what it sounds and feels like?
Photo by Lance Cpl. William Chockey and Courtesy Photo by a U.S. Army Special Operation Soldier.
Where do you think the Minigun belongs best?
On land, vehicle-mounted? At Sea? In the Air? Or Man-held Rambo style?

Anyplace a minigun can go, it should go! Lets face it, wall 'o bullets is a powerful bad guy deterrent. Land? Air? Sea? All good. I want one. And a rich uncle to pay for the feed!
Would a weapon platform such as this be better severed in a CROW's setup? While cool to shoot by hand: it doesn't seem to lend itself to a high hit ratio vs rounds expended.
