HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? SUPER Akimbo 1911 Combo

Welcome everyone to the 16th edition of ‘Hot Gat or Fudd Crap?’, one of our many series here on TFB. If you missed any one of our other articles, this is where we look at the most obscure firearms that are actually for sale and ask the question – is this gat a sweet deal or just strait fudd appeal?  Each week the TFB staff weighs in with their thoughts, but readers get the final say in the poll at the bottom of each article.

In our last edition, our poll showed that you the readers were less than enthusiastic about James Reeves custom Ruger.

For the time being this one of a kind arts and crafts Ruger will remain at the Reeves household. Who knows, maybe one day James will part with his passion project – maybe if you sing the national anthem to him on the TFB Discord often enough, he’ll be patriotically impressed enough to sell his freedom-themed gat.

In this week’s edition of HGFC, we have something which definitely wasn’t made in someone’s backyard. We have a matching set of limited edition 1911’s chambered in 38 Super.  This dynamic duo is currently up for sale on GunBroker for $13,499.97 Buy It Now.

HOT GAT or FUDD CRAP? Super Akimbo Edition

Let’s see what the Staff had to say about this week’s offering:

“The only thing super about those guns is the caliber. Just kidding, it sucks too.” – James Reeves

“Those Colts are ready for the glue factory.” – Pete

“Nicolas Cage called he wants his 1911s back.” – Matt E.

“Yours for $13,500, if you need a pair.” – Giorgio O.

“Call a pistol “Aztec Jaguar Azul” and chamber in .38 Super.  How subtle of Talo Distributors.” – Rusty S.

Selling this akimbo friendly set of 1911’s is GunBroker seller Abide Armory, located in Prescott Arizona.  Let’s see what they have to say about these exclusive 38 supers:

This is a consecutive pair of Colt 1911, these special editions from TALO are some of the finest we have seen to date. Chambered in .38 super, this set is Brand New, in box.  Stock photos are used for all new items. One price, two guns.  This is for (2) Consecutive Serial Numbered firearms (#99 and #100) of The Special Edition Aztec Jaguar Azul from TALO. This is the only consecutive set we know to exist in this limited run of 300.

The serial numbers appear to almost be an early (or late) attempt to jump on some of the “yeet” hype.  Either way, if you’re a 1911 owner that’s not familiar with the term “Ree”, you aren’t missing much.

Moving on past the strange serial numbers, and you’re confronted by even stranger Aztec imagery.  Ducks on a shotgun I understand.  Depictions of Aztec people on a 1911 is just bizarre.

Looking over these images makes me feel like I’m missing something.  How these two 1911’s warrant a five figure price tag is beyond me.  It’s clearly a slim market for anything this fancy or one off in the firearms world. I guess the real question is, who is in the market for this?

So what do you think?  Is this set of 1911’s some Hot Gats or some strange Aztec Fudd Crap?  Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to cast your vote and let us know if this SUPER Akimbo 1911 Combo are Hot Gats or Fudd Crap:
