In the free world, like the United States Of America, companies can freely make and sell products to consumers. Capitalism isn’t perfect, but it is a part of what makes America great. So when Nike decided to kill their plans to release “Betsy Ross” themed sneakers based on one ex-Footballer’s comment, it didn’t bother me in the slightest. Instead, I thought we could focus on the positive news, like the Betsy Ross lower receiver just announced by Palmetto State Armory.

Along the same lines of the free market economy, I don’t get hung up on the aesthetics of receiver roll marks. But for $49, this Betsy Ross lower receiver from PSA seems like a fun way to celebrate Independence Day.

Nike planned to celebrate the Fourth of July with a new sneaker, a special edition of the Air Max 1 Quick Strike featuring that most patriotic of symbols: an American flag.

But rather than including a flag with 50 stars as part of its design, the sneaker’s heel featured the 13-star model, a design associated with the Revolutionary War, the Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross and, for some people, a painful history of oppression and racism.
