For those who may be gearing up for western big game hunts this fall a new contender to the market is the Savage Arms 110 High Country. If you have been watching Savage Arms this last year you may have noticed that they are upgrading and re-doing all of their Model 110 rifles. This includes improvements on prior models and the introduction of a lot of new ones entirely. Many of them are specialty rifles or dedicated to a specific facet of shooting/hunting. The mission of the 110 High Country is long-range hunting. The specifications for this new offering can be read below as presented by Savage Arms:

    • AccuFit system lets hunters adjust Comb Height & Length-of-Pull
    • User-Adjustable AccuTrigger
    • AccuStock Rail System
    • TrueTimber Strata Synthetic Stock w/ Overmold Surfaces
    • Model 110 Stainless Steel Barreled Action w/ Coyote Brown PVD Coating

Some of the more forward-thinking features are a threaded muzzle for potentially a silencer or even a muzzle brake for some of the larger calibers offered. Also, it does take a box magazine which is a nice convenience while hunting and multiple PVD coated surfaces in order to be less prone to rust in harsh elements. The MSRP price of the 110 High Country is $1,129 for all of the calibers it will be chambered in and those can be read below:

    • .243 Winchester | 22” Barrel | 57411
    • 6.5 Creedmoor | 22” Barrel | 57412
    • 6.5 Precision Rifle Cartridge | 24” Barrel | 57419
    • .270 Winchester | 22” Barrel | 57413
    • .280 Ackley Improved | 22” Barrel | 57417
    • 7mm-08 Remington | 22” Barrel | 57415
    • 7mm Remington Magnum | 24” Barrel | 57418
    • .308 Winchester | 22” Barrel | 57410
    • .30-06 Springfield | 22” Barrel | 57414
    • .300 Winchester Magnum | 24” Barrel | 57420
    • .300 Winchester Short Magnum | 24” Barrel | 57416

Some of them are stalwart cartridges we would expect for western big game hunting like .300 Win Mag and .280 Ackley Improved while others are newer to the game like 6.5 PRC and 6.5 Creedmoor. Does this rifle look like something you would entertain on a hunt out west? Which cartridge would you choose? Let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
