The Knives of John Wick – Microtech Continental Set

The fact that there is a new John Wick movie around can’t have escaped anyone. Named “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum” it’s filled with firearms and other sharp objects. The Blade Show in Atlanta was just the other week as well, where a lot of sharp objects were displayed.

You can check The Continental’s Armory here for a reference, full of interesting firearms.

Below: A still from the movie John Wick 3: Parabellum. Note the 9 mm Lantac Dragon on the Taran Tactical MPX.

Of course companies in the business try to capitalize on a large Hollywood production like this. The most famous by now is probably Taran Tactical. Just check TFBTV‘s latest video: How to Shoot Like John Wick: Part 3 | Carbines and Submachineguns.

I look forward to seeing TFBTV’s play around with these Microtech automatic knives or a Balisong for that matter. In shorts, of course.

Because in this post we will focus a little more on the knives in John Wick Chapter 3, where the model Cypher D/E from Microtech Knives is used.

Microtech has made a John Wick Continental Set. In terms of knives, it contains one UTX-70 (smallest automatic knife) and one double-edged Cypher (rather large automatic knife), as well as a pencil.

Automatic knives have always kept my interest, as I try to figure out how they make the mechanics work getting the knife in and out (while keeping my soft body parts unharmed in any way).

I’ve never understood the coins, but some people seem to love and collect them.

How about a Marfione John Wick Assassin .999 Gold Proof Coin for $3,250.00?

Here you can see the unpacking of the John Wick Continental 3 Set.

A few words to describe the Microtech UTX70. It’s rather short with an overall length of only 5.6″.

    U.T.X. 70

At 70% the size of the Ultratech®, the UTX-70® is small enough to fit in a watch pocket. Its nimble size means you could fit it into any bag or pocket, or even hang it on a key ring. When you need the functionality of a hard-use cutting tool, without the size and weight of a full-size knife, the UTX-70® is a perfect choice.

The Microtech Cypher is much larger, with an overall length of 9.6″. But the difference in volume between the knives is huge. Where the UTX70 disappears in your pocket the Cypher takes its place.

Both knives are serial numbered and match the hard case top plate and certificate of authenticity.

Below you can see some trailers from John Wick 3.

“John will come for you. And you will do nothing because you can do nothing.”

Why Are You People Obsessed With John Wick?

As I’m too poor for this Continental set, I made my own. What do you think of the result?

My Cypher above is a Microtech Cypher MK7 Double Edged Double Serrated Tactical. Typically, I don’t like the Cypher as a model, but this one is really nice.
