Back in November 2018, Meridian Defense Corporation has released the first rifle (Pestilence) of the four limited edition AK rifles themed after the four horsemen of the apocalypse – Pestilence, War, Famine, Death. Recently, the company has announced the release of the second horseman – the WAR.

APOCALYPSE AK SERIES

THE SPECIAL PROJECTS DIVISION “APOCALYPSE” AK RIFLES, ARE A LIMITED EDITION RUN OF FOUR DIFFERENT RIFLES, ALL BASED OFF OF THE FOUR HORSEMAN OF THE APOCALYPSE (PESTILENCE, WAR, FAMINE, DEATH). WE WANTED TO CREATE A UNIQUE SERIES OF RIFLES THAT ARE COMPLETELY NEW, THAT HAVE A “END OF THE WORLD” APOCALYPSE FEEL & LOOK, BUT WITHOUT SACRIFICING OUR BUILD QUALITY AND PRECISION PARTS THAT ARE ON ALL OF OUR RIFLES.

The WAR is an RPK pattern rifle chambered in 7.62x39mm. It is built with Yugoslavian M72 military parts kits reassembled in company’s 1.5mm MDC-47 stamped receivers. The new American-made chrome-lined barrel is made of 4140 steel, has an overall length of 23.2″ and a twist rate of 1:9.5″. The WAR rifle comes with a Meridian Defence Corporation’s FH4 flash hider and TangoDown pistol grip. It also features a side scope rail on the receiver. The furniture has been stripped from the original finish and refinished in the company’s Apocalypse stain pattern. In general, the whole rifle has been hand finished with the MDC’s Battleworn finish.

The Meridian Defence Corporation WAR rifle is available for preorder at an MSRP of $1,699. The estimated lead time is 6-8 weeks. The company also offers an option to spread the payment with a $500 down payment and the rest paid upon completion of the build. The WAR rifles come standard with a box magazine, however, for an additional $175 you can order it with a drum mag. The customers also have an option to choose the number painted on the stock. You can have the original manufacturing year, a custom number or no number at all. There is also a California compliant version available.
