Competition AR-15 rifles for practical shooting is always an interesting topic. Everyone has their own preferences, based on experience (or the lack of!), budget or other constraints.

Today, we have some top quality pictures, taken by Henry Spuhr Photography, based in the south of Sweden, and a story about the Schmeisser Dynamic AR15 modified to suit one of the shooters in the Madsen Team.

Midnight Bronze is the name of the Cerakote, and it suits this Schmeisser AR very well in my opinion. There’s a nice contrast with the black polymer and other black parts.

This rifle is supposed to be used in the IPSC Rifle World Championship 2019 (Sweden), in August later this year.

SCHMEISSER AR-15 DYNAMIC L “Madsen Edition” (Text by the team)

The rifles are now ready for IPSC Rifle World Championship 2019.

We will both compete in IPSC Rifle using Schmeisser AR-15 Dynamic L and it’s a very good factory rifle aimed for the IPSC market.

Most of all IPSC shooters have their personal taste of how a rifle should be configured and change what’s needed.
You just want to make sure that you start out with a solid and high-quality model.

We choosed the Schmeisser Dynamic L model after having done some extensive test shooting last year. It had some points for improvement, but the overall impression was very good.

This is what we have done to make these rifles a top contender second to none.

We started with a Schmeisser Dynamic L with 16.75” barrel and mid length gas system and changed/added the following:

– Modified Schmeisser handguard with removed picatinny top rail.
– TE-Titan “Salen” Titanium compensator
– SLR Adjustable Gas Block.
– B.A.D Short Throw Safety
– B.A.D Magazine release button
– ERGO Grip
– Triggertech trigger, supplied by SPUHR AB
– SPUHR Scope mount. SP-3026 supplied by SPUHR AB
– Kahles K16i scope with G4B recticle as primary sight.
– Shield RMS 4 moa secondary sight.
– TONI System extended magazine well (cut off to make it possible to use Magpul D60).
– The complete package got a Cerakote treatment using Midnight Bronze color by the Gun Smith (Vapensmen) Anders Nilsson.

Does the rifle shoot well?

Five shots group below 50 mm (just below 2″) at 300 meters (328 yards) using premium factory ammunition from GGG 69gr SMK. The shooting was from a normal IPSC prone position, using only a bipod.

Those results are similar to what my own competition rifles perform with the same ammunition, and good enough for practical shooting at those distances. The ammunition is supplied by the local supplier of GGG ammunition Shootmore.

Midnight Bronze Cerakote enjoys the sunshine (or is it the flash from the camera?)

To paint the mount as well is a nice touch, something I will definitely consider in future builds.
