TFBTV: Detailed Review of the Bond Arms Bullpup 9 Pistol

James Reeves
by James Reeves

In this episode of TFBTV, James Reeves looks at the incredibly tiny Bond Arms Bullpup 9, the successor to the Boberg XR9. This is a unique, boutique pistol that costs $1,099 MSRP, so you better do your homework before you decide to drop that kind of coin on a gun. Is this little fella worth it? And how does it compare to a Glock 43? James tells you today on TFBTV.

Long time Boberg Owner (since 2012) - I own 5 = 2 shorties + 2 long + a 45. Garrett with Bond Arms told me at NRAAM 19 that they have now sold more of these than Boberg. However I'm not sure if he meant more sales than Boberg's shortie's or all 3 models combined. The 9mm Long will be out soon (they've been saying that for a while) and a production change will end the Boberg only sights and be replaced with a Glock or Sig dovetail. By the way the 9mm long is slightly softer to shoot and has enough rail for a mini laser. I carry nothing else (usually pocket carry).

@KD Glad to hear the design is taking off; I never would have guessed...but it's not like I ran into people with Boberg's with any regularity, either (I did see a 9S for sale at Cheaperthandirt's storefront location, but I think CTD folded before they could sell a single gun, lol)

It sounds like Arne's manufacturing, and maybe marketing, was his real limitation, since the Bond Arms guns sure aren't any cheaper (just cheaper looking, because of the cheesy slide markings). IIRC, he was supposedly working on a 5.7x28 model at one time...I'll continue to hold out hopelessly for a teensy 10-shooter "mouse gun that roars"
