[NRA 2019] Bushnell’s NEW Ingenious Little Red Dot: the Advance Micro Reflex

Bushnell has launched a NEW little red dot that looks to be small, intuitive, and easy-to-use for rifles or pistols. This new offering was on proud display at the NRA Annual Meetings 2019 in Indianapolis, Indiana this past weekend. This NEW red dot has been dubbed the Advance Micro Reflex Sight. This small red dot fits on handguns that accept optic plates and could potentially be placed on a rifle or shotgun with a rail as well.

The most intriguing feature of this red dot aside from its compact size, generous viewing window, and crisp dot is its battery storage. The bane of many micro red dot owners is where the battery is stored. If it is underneath the optic it can be a tremendous pain to remove the optic to change a battery. You could also potentially lose your zero in the process making it even more frustrating. The Bushnell Advance Micro is truly unique because you have a literal drawer you can pull in-and-out from the side to load your battery.

The two small hex screws on the left-hand side of the Advance Micro seen above are your gateway to the battery storage. So without removing the optic, using a funny coin, and not requiring any other magician’s trick, you can remove your battery (in the unlikely event that it dies) and simply replace it to keep the good times rolling. The rest of the specs for this simple red dot can be read below as presented by Bushnell:

    • Waterproof Construction: O-Ring Sealed Optics stay Dry inside even when totally immersed in Water
    • Shockproof Construction: Built to withstand Bumps, Bangs, Drops & the Rough-and-Tumble Environment of the Field
    • Nitrogen Purged Fog Proofing: Nitrogen inside the Optic ensures Interior Optical Surfaces will not Fog due to Humidity or Rapid Temperature Change
    • Black w/ 5 MOA Dot Reticle

Many pistol-ready red dot options are $250 plus and the sky is the limit in regards to price. The Bushnell Advance Micro currently has an MSRP of $159.99 making it very affordable whether it is going to jump immediately onto a Glock like the one we encountered or even a shotgun or rifle. A short, but concise statement from Bushnell can be read below that further elaborates as to what the Advance Micro is all about:

The Advance Micro Reflex Sight is the smallest, lightest red dot in the Bushnell AR Optics family, and packs big performance into a compact package. It projects a 5-MOA dot through rugged optics, and is compatible with a large selection of rifles and semiautomatic pistols, including the GlockĀ® Mount Plate #1. The Bushnell AR Optics Advance Micro Reflex Sight is THE choice for lightweight performance.

So with so many small red dots that can be thrown on a pistol already on the market, what do you think of Bushnell’s newest offering with the Advance Micro? It comes in at a very affordable price point and has a unique battery compartment. Would you spring the money to add one of these to your collection? Let us know all of your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
