Matador Arms has added to their website a new product – the Mag-X (P320). This is an AR-15 magazine adapter that makes it possible to use SIG Sauer P-320 magazines in your AR-pattern PCC. Obviously, this conversion will be especially useful for those of you who prefer the US military’s new sidearm and already have a bunch of magazines for the gun.
The Mag-X is compatible with mil-spec AR-15 lower receivers. You’ll also need a 9mm upper receiver assembly with a Glock-cut bolt. The adapter won’t work with bolts designed for Uzi or Colt magazines. The company also recommends using a heavy (5.8 oz) buffer for reliable operation.
The installation requires no modifications to the rifle’s lower receiver or the magazines of the handgun. In order to install the adapter, you need to press the AR magazine release button and insert the adapter into the magazine well. The AR mag catch will hold the adapter in place, however, not to rely only on that and to prevent the accidental release of the adapter caused by pressing the AR mag release button, you’ll also need to tighten the single hex screw from inside the lower receiver.
The Mag-X is made of Aluminum and has an anodized finish. It features a built-in ejector for the 9mm cartridges. The magazine release for the pistol magazines is the lever in the front bottom portion of the adapter/lower receiver. The ejector and the magazine catch are made of steel. This adapter has no last round bolt stop mechanism. It is compatible only with the magazines that have two magazine catch cutouts. It won’t work with some aftermarket magazines that have a single magazine catch slot.
The Mag-X (P320) adapter is listed on the company’s website at an MSRP of $149.99. Currently, it is available at an introductory price of $119.99. The estimated start of shipping is mid-April, 2019.
