This was one of the most interesting Reader’s Choice polls we have conducted thus far! The voting results we received were close, but simultaneously the victor won by a landslide. The diversity of suggestions from you, our beloved readers, was very impressive as well. The thing that was consistent across the board is the caliber: 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem. We did state that you could suggest any caliber you want in an AR-15 platform if you had a good argument to back it, but no one even made an honest attempt. Clearly, the 5.56 NATO is your #1 cartridge and is not going anywhere (which is a surprise to nobody). How about some results though?! All of the voting above represents roughly 83.8% of your votes while the rest of the approximate 16.2% was miscellaneously distributed among your 20 or so suggestions who did not crack the top 9 in voting. The voting is interesting because we at TFB did not rig these results in anyway… but POF might have. Maybe they made a shout-out at their fan base on social media and drove their loyal customers to our poll?… We genuinely do not know, but they sure as heck showed up in droves!

It is not like Patriot Ordnance Factory (POF) sort of got people to vote for their P415 Edge, but they embarrassingly crushed this poll. While the POF P415 Edge 5.56 NATO pulled in 44.7% of the votes, the placings of 2nd through 9th was only 39.1% combined! Other interesting things to note are Knight’s Armament and LWRC were very late reader suggestions and they both made it into the Top 9 for voting. So it always matters that you give us your suggestions no matter how late in the game it is.

Honestly this is like asking what the best brand of bottled water is. Some bottles might be prettier than others but in the end it doesn’t matter. There’s nothing a $1700 Daniel Defense can do that a $500 Palmetto State Armory can’t, unless your concern is looking good on instagram.
