We apologize for our tardiness in getting you the results for January’s poll. SHOT Show had us all run a little ragged and overwhelmed. This was a pretty fun one to debate though because the options and possibilities seem nearly endless! We also all have our own personal preferences and biases we lean strongly towards. Whether it is your duty weapon, the first pistol you have ever bought, or the first handgun someone ever placed in your hand. The Comments section was robust with comedy, heated discussions, and appalling suggestions. So with that, your Winner is the Glock Gen5 17 9mm! Here are the rest of the results:

While that Top 5 might not surprise too many people, where each manufacturer and model landed might. It is difficult to argue against a Glock winning our Reader’s Choice BEST Full-Size Striker-Fired Pistol when they have been so widely accepted by law enforcement and recreational shooters alike. I will throw out an Honorable Mention because you wiley readers threw us a curveball we never imagined!

When we initially proposed the voting for BEST Full-Size Striker-Fired Pistol, TFB (meaning this writer) did have a tremendous brain-fart and forgot the H&K VP-9. Through your suggestion and reader voting, a write-in got voted into 5th place, woohoo!

Everybody loves the Ruger American! By Everybody I mean nobody. Troll poll.

We want to say that this comment is pretty bias, but it is actually not that wrong. The Ruger American we thought would have performed a lot better, but it only sneaked into 10th place in the polling.

Why all 9mm? What about some real calibers?

I do not know if you are aware of this or not, but 9mm is BEST millimeter. If you do not believe us, we just might make a poll out of it in the future 😉

Most of the strikers I own are glocks, if this was a da/sa list I’d have to put more thought into it. Not a fan of the fn strikers, they just feel weird next to my fnx. The m&p just doesn’t do it for me, I can’t really put my finger on why. Maybe the trigger. The vp9 doesn’t like me. I want to like the ppq but I like it’s older brother the p99 better. I really do need to pick one of those up.

While it is a poorly crafted comment, he makes a good point. The Glock Gen5 17 9mm won the poll for BEST Full-Size Striker-Fired Pistol, and the Glock Gen3 17 9mm took 11th place. Glock was the only company (aside from Springfield Armory: XD(M) and XD) to get 2 models voted onto the list.
