    Heckler & Koch
are on fire on their Facebook Social Media.

Their post about “A fresh batch of M27 rifles leaving Georgia headed to the Devil Dogs” currently has over 6,000 comments and 15,000 shares. That’s quite a lot for anything related to firearms, especially after only 11 hours and still developing.

The start-up post from H&K read: “A fresh batch of M27 rifles leaving Georgia headed to the Devil Dogs. If any of you crayon eaters are reading this, please treat them nice, even though we built them to be Marine proof.

I, for sure enjoyed it, however some may not.

In case you don’t know, “Devil Dog” is a nickname for a U.S. Marine. It is said by US Marines to be based on the use of “Teufel Hunden” by German soldiers to describe Marines fighting in World War I. (Source)

    Furthermore, from H&K Social Media:

we wrote out a training manual that used no words over 6 letters, we were told that we didn’t use enough pictures, by the time we submitted a manual that was approved, it was literally nothing but pictures...

FYI, this was not a challenge to try to break them, we know reading comprehension is a strong suit.

Social media girl here, 100% going to get pulled into a meeting in the AM to discuss all this, no going back now though.

oh they are in total support, right up until the Commandant calls us and says that hundreds of M27 rifles have been drug behind jets, thrown out of helicopters and ran over by tanks by a bunch of leathernecks trying to prove a point.

    ..and so on.

Below: The M27 is based on the Heckler & Koch HK416. According to Wikipedia each rifle cost about $1,300.

M27 Infantry Automatic Rifles – Made in the USA – heading for the U.S. Marines. The Marine Corps revealed a decision in 2017 to equip every Marine in an infantry squad with the M27.

According to the official contract award notice and TFB Matthew’s article 70% of the contract will be done by Heckler & Koch’s factory in Oberndorf, Germany. 20% of the work would be carried out in Columbus, Georgia – as these pictures show – and the last 10% in Ashburn, Virginia. The contract runs until 2023.

This contract was awarded on a sole source basis under the authority of the Federal Acquisition Regulation.
