POTD: Norwegian Naval Special Operation Commando in Kabul, Afghanistan
Knock-knock – is anybody home?
Here is a string of photos of the Norwegian Naval Special Operation Commando in Kabul, Afghanistan.
Below: This image has a lot of interesting things going on. Apart from the explosives, there are Heckler & Koch HK416s with short barrels and sound suppressors as well as a lot of other electronic aids: Aimpoint Red Dot and Surefire weapon lights.
Note the short pump-action shotgun (below) on the left side of the EOD soldier. I am not sure which is going to be the “Master Key” this time, the shotgun or the explosives?
Below: Note the SOG Pentagon dagger in the holster in front of the holstered handgun. Norway uses Glock 17.
Suppressed Heckler & Koch HK416 and night vision goggles.
Their contribution in Afghanistan has largely been kept secret, but from what little information is available, their missions included DA (direct action), Forward Air Control (FAC) and SR (Special Surveillance and Reconnaissance), and cooperating with other coalition forces in the fight against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. All photos are taken by Torbjørn Kjosvold / Forsvaret (Norway).

These are the types of photos tier 2 operators put on their bedroom walls. I mean look at those quarter sleeves!
Safeties and all, I still cringe when seeing a rifle slung behind the back, muzzle down. Can't help myself, whimpy me.
