There’s a few “AR-15 style” shotguns floating around on the market, to be honest most of them are pretty forgettable. A few years ago Adam wrote a post about a pretty interesting looking AR based shotgun called the Typhoon F12. The post said the Typhoon F12 shotgun was in the process of being produced, well they’re finally here in the United States and are available to purchase.

Typhoon Defense showed off their new line of F12 Shotguns at SHOT Show 2019. They’ll be available in various models and configurations with a starting MSRP of just $899. All of the F12 Shotguns are mag fed semi-autos chambered in 12 gauge. They feature a 7075 billet upper and lower receiver, steel magazines, 4140 chrome lined 18.5″ barrel and soft gel recoil pads. The F12 has an adjustable gas block for both light and heavy loads. Typhoon Defense recommends a 50 round break in period using high brass heavy loads. After that it should be good to go.

All of their F12’s will come with three 5-round magazines, flip up BUIS, a heat shield, assembly wrench and four choke tubes. 10 round box mags and a 20 round drum mag are also available from Typhoon Defense A full list of specs and features is below. Check out typhoondefense.com for more info.

In the same booth as Typhoon Defense was another company called Small Arms Technologies, they make a line of carbon fiber suppressors for pistols, rifles and shotguns. Their Octave 12 suppressor was displayed along with the F12 shotgun. The Octave 12 offers a 30db sound reduction and weights in at just 16oz with a 1.65″ diameter and 10″ overall length. According to Small Arms Technologies their cool core design works so well that all their suppressors remain cool to the touch even after multiple mag dumps.
