[SHOT 2019] Strategic Armory Corps
The name of this company is probably not familiar to many of you. If you visit their booth at SHOT Show you’ll be surprised discovering that some of the very well known firearm brands are exhibited there. And the reason is that the Strategic Armory Corps is the parent company of the following five brands – Armalite, AWC Silencers, McMillan Firearms, Nexus Ammunition, and Surgeon Rifles.
Below I’ll quote a text (from the Strategic Armory Corps’ website) describing the corporate structure and strategy of the company:
Strategic Armory Corps was formed with the goal of acquiring and combining market-leading companies within the firearms industry. Each company that is brought into the SAC family fulfills a consumer need with their brand of niche products. To date, five highly respected manufacturing companies have been acquired. These companies strategically fit together to form a strong base of products and services that are designed to meet the expectations of military, law enforcement, commercial groups, and individual users around the world.
One of the new products seen at the Strategic Armory Corps booth was the first billet upper and lower receiver set manufactured by Armalite. They had on display an M4 pattern rifle built on these receivers. The company will also be offering Armalite ARs that will come with Magpul furniture. Some of the furniture colors may be available via certain dealers only.
It is interesting to note that back in 2013 Strategic Armory Corps purchased the firearm manufacturing part of the McMillan brand which is called McMillan Firearms. Some of the McMillan Firearms rifles were displayed at the Strategic Armory Corps’ booth. However, McMillan family still owns the rifle stock making company and manufactures their stocks under the McMillan USA brand. That’s why you can see the McMillan USA exhibiting in a different booth at SHOT Show.
We’ll keep following the news concerning the Strategic Armory Group’s new acquisitions and development of already acquired brands. Stay tuned to be informed first!

So yeah, I'd never heard of Strategic Armory Corps. And when I just did hear of them, the first thing that struck me is "that's about the stupidest name I've ever heard, because they clearly don't know what 'Strategic' or 'Corps' mean". I stand by that. It is an idiotic name for a company that makes decidedly tactical weapons. An aircraft carrier is a strategic weapon. A nuclear missile is a strategic weapon. A rifle is not. This name sounds like it was made up by a 15-year-old airsoft player who thinks he's "basically a SEAL".
McMillan is legit though, and Armalite still makes some okay stuff. I'm not familiar with any of the other brands they own. But this parent company is in desperate need of a name change, because something that stupid is going to scare off customers.
