Lightened-Wood Lever! NEW Marlin 336 Curly Maple with Fiddle Back

Marlin has introduced a NEW version of their staple Model 336 lever-action rifle with a B-Grade Curly Maple stock and Fiddle Back figuring. This new rifle is not surprisingly chambered in the stalwart .30-30 Winchester cartridge. This rifle was announced back at the NASGW (National Sporting Good Wholesalers) Show in October and it is finally shipping to retailers and distributors for sale. This new Curly Maple iteration of the 336 is specifically available in the 336C, or carbine model.

The Marlin 336 Curly Maple retains a lot of the features and components that you would come to expect from a Marlin lever-action. The biggest change is the appearance with the striking new stock offering. A short overview of the specs for this rifle can be read below as presented by Marlin:

    • Checkered Pistol Grip & Forend
    • Fiddle Back Maple Stock Beautifully figured after Hand‐Crafted Musical Instruments
    • Traditional “Bullseye” just forward of the Rear Sling Swivel Stud
    • 20″ Barrel w/ Micro-Groove Rifling & 1 in 20″ Twist Rate

    • Adjustable Semi-Buckhorn Rear Sights
    • Polished Blue Finish
    • 6-Round Magazine Tube
    • Available in .30-30 Winchester

This rifle has an opening MSRP of $899. As previously mentioned, this 336C is simply outfitted with a new style stock for those who might appreciate the different aesthetic. To further cement the fact that this is a business as usual rifle for Marlin, they provide one of the shortest product descriptions we have seen in a long time:

The Model 336 is an icon of the deer woods and one of the most popular hunting rifles of all time. It is now available with a beautiful curly maple wood stock.

It might be a bold statement to proclaim the 336 is one of the most popular hunting rifles of all time, but you, our readers, just voted for the Marlin 336C as TFB’s Reader’s Choice Best Backwoods Gun a few weeks ago.

So what do you think of this rifle? Marlin is not setting the world on fire with this new offering, but it does have a nice appearance. Would you buy one? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate feedback.
