Rifle Dynamics Introduces The NATO AK

After a small run of custom AKs chambered in .223/5.56, Rifle Dynamics has added this rifle to their main product line due to the high demand. This new product is called RRD556 NATO AK. According to the announcement posted on the company’s social media pages, this project was possible thanks to the efforts of the K-Var Corp.

The Rifle Dynamics NATO AK rifles are based on Arsenal SLR106F AKs. The base rifle is tuned and refined to the Rifle Dynamics standards (tuned rails, bolt, bolt carrier and trigger group) and upgraded with some aftermarket parts that you can see in many RD AKs. The rifles feature the distinctive Rifle Dynamics Front End design which lacks a separate front sight block and features a shorter barrel making the rifle much handier and maneuvrable. These rifles come with RD Tunable Gas Blocks which allow fine tuning the gas system for use with suppressors as well as feature an integrated front sight. The barrel is shortened to 14.5″ and comes with a permanently attached PWS RD-FSC muzzle device (1/2x 28 muzzle thread pitch) which increases the legal barrel length to 16.25″.

The NATO AKs also come with an UltiMAK railed gas tube, Tango Down AK Battle Grip, tuned Tapco G2 trigger. The rear sight is modified to become a Fuller sight that has an opened up notch and rounded edges allowing a faster sight picture establishment. The overall length of the rifle is 34.25″ and the length with a folded stock is 25.5″. Approximate weight of this rifle is 6 lbs 15 oz.

The NATO AK is listed on the company’s website at an MSRP of $2,450. It comes with one 20-round Circle 10 AK magazine and a rifle case. The rifle can also be equipped with optional features such as SLR Rifleworks 10.5″ Rail Set, ALG AKT-EL Trigger, Krebs Custom enhanced safety, Evolution Defense Group stippled Tango Down grip and/or handguard, AK side rail as well as one of the eight custom color options offered by the company.
