TFB's 12 Days Of Christmas: Rimfire For Rudolph

My apologies for the delay in posting the Rimfire For Rudolph edition of TFB’s 12 Days Of Christmas. A little eggnog, the Grinch playing on TV, a roaring fire and visions of sugarplums were soon dancing in my head. Besides, I thought that our intelligent but dedicated readers had better things to do on a mid December’s eve than sit at home and read about my personal rimfire gun recommendations for yourself or as gifts for that special someone.

The .22LR cartridge is often overlooked by serious shooters. Many would rather pick up a sixth GLOCK than consider a rimfire bolt gun as a trainer, target rifle or a fun plinking machine. But, as you are probably sick of hearing me say it, rimfire is life. With almost zero recoil, the ability to carry 500 rounds in a coat pocket and (mostly) affordable pricing, these guns should be a staple in any shooters lineup. I’m nothing if not predictable: Nearly all of my suggestions have threaded barrels for suppressor use.

I picked products that TFB has handled in 2018 and span budget levels and features. See something that should have made our list? Let me know in the comments section below.

Totally get it. Bought my first centerfire rifle a few months ago for my birthday. No, not an AR. An AKM by Lee Armory. While shooting it at the range for the first time, there was a couple next to me, shooting a new, blued Ruger Mark IV, w/tapered 4.5 " barrel. They were having so much fun the thought hit......
Yes, instead of buying a ton of AK stuff I bought a new, blued Ruger Mark IV Target Model. Was planning on getting just what they had...the old-school look...but being late 2018 I updated a bit.
Because....500 rounds in a coat pocket.
Well, haven't worn a coat in years but....fun. Seems sometimes it still remains fun to just plink and to do so 'on the cheap'.

I have lots of guns in lots of calibers but I always take a couple of .22s to every range session. Pistols or rifles they're just plain fun to shoot and cheap fun at that. After blowing through a couple of boxes of .22s in my HK MP5 A5 with it's 50 round drum it's hard to get the grin off your face ... only issue is that everyone wants to shoot it.
