Brownells BRN-22 TAKEDOWN Ruger 10/22 Receivers
Brownells has expanded their line of Ruger 10/22 receivers by introducing the takedown version. The BRN-22T receivers are compatible with all the other factory parts of Ruger 10/22 Takedown rifles allowing to build a new rifle using the wide variety of factory and aftermarket components.
The BRN-22 Takedown receivers are machined out of billet 6061 T6 aluminum and feature a matte black Type 2 hard coat anodized finish. Here is how the company explains their choice of machining out of billet aluminum over using a forging:
Why machined instead of forged, like most commercial receivers? All you need to do is look inside at the smooth, clean interior to realize that a machined receiver can be held to much tighter tolerances for a precise fit with other parts.
The BRN-22 Takedown receivers feature a pre-drilled cleaning rod hole at the rear portion to allow cleaning the barrel from the breech end. These receivers come in two configurations – standard and railed. The standard version has a smooth top portion with drilled and tapped scope holes. The railed one features a top Picatinny rail machined as a single piece with the receiver.
Here are also a couple of compatibility-related warnings from Brownells:
Due to varying dimensions in aftermarket and some older factory aluminum trigger housings, fitting may be required.
The BRN-22 receivers are designed to work in conjunction with Ruger® 10/22® OEM bolts, and as such may not work with all aftermarket bolts.
Other features of the BRN-22 Takedown receivers can be seen in the video embedded below.
Being a serial number bearing part, these receivers are considered firearms and will be shipped to your FFL. The MSRP on the company’s website is $139.99 and $149.99 for the standard and railed stripped receivers respectively. Currently, the prices for both receivers are discounted by $20.

Call me a casual, but who'd buy the non-railed receiver if the railed receiver is for sale?
It's too bad the Brownells versions of these do not include a rear bedding tab, one of the biggest weaknesses of accuracy out of the 10/22 is the fact you only get one action screw at the front of the reciever.
