Meridian Defense Corporation has designed four limited edition AK rifles themed after the four horsemen of the apocalypse – Pestilence, War, Famine, Death. The first rifle of this series is the Pestilence which is already available for preorder. Other three rifles are set to be released in 2019.
Here is how Meridian Defense Corporation describes the Apocalypse series of rifles.
APOCALYPSE AK SERIES
THE SPECIAL PROJECTS DIVISION “APOCALYPSE” AK RIFLES, ARE A LIMITED EDITION RUN OF FOUR DIFFERENT RIFLES, ALL BASED OFF OF THE FOUR HORSEMAN OF THE APOCALYPSE (PESTILENCE, WAR, FAMINE, DEATH). WE WANTED TO CREATE A UNIQUE SERIES OF RIFLES THAT ARE COMPLETELY NEW, THAT HAVE A “END OF THE WORLD” APOCALYPSE FEEL & LOOK, BUT WITHOUT SACRIFICING OUR BUILD QUALITY AND PRECISION PARTS THAT ARE ON ALL OF OUR RIFLES.
The MDC 47 Pestilence rifle is chambered in 7.62x39mm. It is built on a Romanian parts kit with the MDC 1mm heat threated stamped receiver. The barrels used in these rifles are made of 4150 CMV (chrome moly vanadium) steel and feature a black nitrided finish/surface treatment. The front sight block/gas block combo is made by MDC. The BD3-AK 3-port muzzle brake is also made by the company. The muzzle device is pinned and welded to the barrel to provide a minimum legal barrel length of 16.1″.
The Pestilence rifles also feature a standard AK side scope rail as well as an UltiMAK railed gas tube. These rifles come with tuned Tapco G2 triggers, original Romanian military leather slings, and one sheet metal magazine. The furniture of Pestilence rifles has been refinished with the MDC’s Apocalypse style stain. The metal parts feature the company’s Battleworn finish. The pistol grip is a TangoDown BG AK Battlegrip. The rear sight blocks of Apocalypse series of rifles are engraved with MDC’s Special Projects Division logo as seen in the image embedded below.
The MDC 47 Pestilence rifle is available for preorder at an MSRP of $1,599. The estimated lead time is 6-8 weeks.
