Wilson Combat has just released this beautiful work of art – the Supergrade Commander Special. This is the first commander size classic style handgun added to the Supergrade family of deluxe Wilson Combat 1911 pistols. Let’s first watch the promo video then go through the specs of this gun.
The Wilson Combat Supergrade Commander Special pistol comes in single or two-tone versions. This pistol is available in three caliber options: .45 ACP, 9x19mm and .38 Super. As in the case of other commander size 1911 pistols, this one also has a 4.25″ barrel and a correspondingly shortened slide. The match grade barrel is made of stainless steel and features a flush-cut reverse crowned muzzle as well as external flutes on the chamber area. The thick flange barrel bushing has an internal chamfer similar to the muzzle crown angle.
The blued slide and frame have polished sides. This little trick provides a slight contrast which contributes a lot to the overall incredible appearance of this gun. The slide also has a flat top profile and features angled rear serrations. The gun is equipped with Wilson Combat Battlesight iron sights with white gold bead front sight The sight radius is 5.95″.
The round butt carbon steel frame has a contoured magazine well and high cut checkered front strap (30 LPI). The frame is equipped with a magazine release button, beavertail grip safety and retro checkered thumb safety from company’s Bullet Proof line of accessories. The smooth grips are made of a deluxe wood burl and have sterling silver medallions inlaid into them.
The Supergrade Commander Special pistol also comes with a full-length recoil spring guide rod and a medium length trigger. The trigger pull weight is around 3.5 – 4.5 lbs. The company guarantees that this pistol is capable of printing 1.5″ groups at a 25-yard distance.
