Gunbroker App BANNED from iTunes & Google Play on Mobile Devices

Do you use the website to hunt up firearms and accessories? Do you do it on a mobile device? If so, you have probably been wondering what happened to your app. One day it is on your phone and you are browsing a gun utopia, and the next day… POOF… it’s gone! This news so far has snuck under the radar of most gun media sites. One outlet which caught this fairly quickly was Breitbart News.

On September 3rd Breitbart News obtained an e-mail that Google had sent to Gunbroker regarding the removal of the Gunbroker app from the Google Play app store:

    Hi Developers at LLC,

After review,, has been suspended and removed from Google Play due to a policy violation.
Issue: Violation of Dangerous Products policy.

We don’t allow apps that facilitate the sale of explosives, firearms, ammunition or certain firearms accessories. We also don’t allow apps that provide instructions for the manufacture of explosives, firearms, ammunition, restricted firearm accessories, or other weapons.

Although this may not be surprising at all it still remains disheartening to see their app vanish seemingly overnight. An article on their website still refers to the mobile apps and their potential use for buyers and sellers, but when you click through on their links to download the app for iPhone or Droid users the links are dead.

For users who already have the app on their phone, it appears to still be functioning for some; it is very hit-or-miss. For those who recently purchased new phones or do not have the app on their phone currently, they are out of luck. If you search the iTunes Store or Google Play store the former Gunbroker app is entirely absent.

Quite a few app users have inquired about the disappearing app to Tech Support, and they have been receiving messages similar to this:

Unfortunately our Android mobile app was removed from Google Play due to a policy violation. At this time we are working on other options to house this application for download, but until then access to our website will need to be conducted via browser.

We apologize for this inconvenience. Customer Service

In the past we have seen prominent businesses like Brownells get banned from YouTube only to come back. Do you think Gunbroker could somehow break through in the future and return to the app store? Let us know your thoughts in the Comments below! We always appreciate your feedback.
