Taylor Freelance Goliath +20 Glock Magazine Extension

Taylor Freelance New Goliath +20 Glock Magazine Extension (660)

This new Taylor Freelance product may look like just another magazine extension, however, it has a lot of interesting and innovative design features. The Goliath +20 aluminum Glock magazine extension is built to withstand extreme use, it is easily serviceable, it can be custom fitted to the magazine and it looks cool.

One of the most important design features that make the Goliath extension stronger is the way it is attached to Glock magazines. The metal liner in Glock magazines does not extend all the way down and the bottom portion of the magazine has no metal reinforcement. That unsupported portion and the plastic baseplate lips are what the magazine extensions normally attached to. It doesn’t sound to be the most robust attachment platform, does it? Taylor Freelance has fixed this issue by making the Goliath extension to extend further up than usual thus enclosing that unsupported lower end and getting fixed to the portion of the magazine where there is a metal liner. Robin Taylor, the founder of the company, demonstrates this feature in the video embedded below.

In the next video, you can watch what kind of torture testing these extensions are capable to withstand.

The Goliath extension should be an especially desirable product for PCC competition shooters because when attached to the 31 round Glock magazines it increases the magazine capacity to 51 rounds. It also has witness holes on its rear wall showing the 40, 45, and 50 rounds of loaded/remaining ammunition. The external shape of this accessory features scallops and serrations allowing for a firm purchase on the magazine.

The Goliath extension has a separate baseplate which can be disassembled to allow maintaining and cleaning the magazine without a need to remove the extension itself. The rear wall of this extension can also be detached by removing the screws thus allowing you to inspect, align and tune the extension-to-magazine transition area where most of the magazine extension related malfunctions happen. Here is how Taylor Freelance describes the possible issues with this transitional portion:

In testing different magazines, we found mags that LOOK identical often aren’t. ETS mags have considerable variance from mag to mag – enough that each one we picked up had to be custom-fitted to the extension. No “generic” fixes here, each one was unique. GLOCK-brand 31-round mag tubes are much stronger than the ETS thanks to that steel liner, and more consistent, but even they have quirks.
