About a year ago, we reported the release of Brownells slides for the Gen 3 Glock pistols. Recently the company has announced that now similar slides are available for the Gen 4 Glock 17 and Glock 19 pistols. Let’s watch the video showcasing these new products, then go through their specs.
As seen in the video, the new Gen 4 slides come in two basic options:
- Brownells Gen 4 Glock Iron Sight Slide – basic slide with iron sight cuts
- Brownells Glock Gen 4 RMR Cut Slide – slide with a Trijicon RMR red dot sight cut
Both options can also be ordered with a top port.
A distinctive feature of Brownells slides that was present on Gen 3 slides too, is the existence of front slide serrations that are cut all around the slide. Here is how Brownells describes the advantages of such front serrations:
Unlike Glock OEM slides, the Brownells Gen 4 Glock Iron Sight Slide is machined with wraparound serrations that comes over the top of the slide, providing more textured surface area that’ll grab the skin of a shooter’s palm and enable them to draw the slide rearward in a flash.
The Brownells slides for Glock pistols are machined out of 17-4 stainless steel and feature a black nitride finish/surface treatment of black matte color. These are stripped slides that are compatible with standard Gen 4 Glock slide components.
The MSRP of the standard slide is $199.99 and the version with the RMR cut will cost you $229.99. The prices are identical for both the Glock 19 and Glock 17 slides. I couldn’t find the porting option price or a separate listing of ported versions of these slides. Probably, they are not yet available. I think it would be cool to see the Gen 4 iteration of their extended Glock 19 slides that have a G17 slide length thanks to the extended dust cover portion.
