I have Insights, Surefire and Streamlight weapon lights. Couldn't find an olight that appealed to me. I'll tell you what, the 1000 lumen Streamlight I bought recently is damn good. I'm not jumping out of planes so Surefire is gonna have to do way better to get more of my cash. They aren't 2-4 times better than what Streamlight is making even though they cost 2-4 times as much. I still like Surefire and carry one a lot but light snobbery is not what it used to be.

But yeah go ahead and put a $500 light and a $3k Elcan on your SCAR bro. I'm not mad at you. You'd probably scoff at my car note.

@JSandMath If it functions I'm good with it. Guy seems to be a retiree so doing stuff on a fixed income too? More power to him.

@Brut Faberge I love Surefire but I have an Insight also. While I believe Surefire lights could definitely take more abuse than the Insight, I've had zero issues with it. Plus the activation button is right where I want it on the Insight when mounted at the 9 o'clock position. Your hand naturally goes to the right place and feels comfortable.

@BravoSeven Same for me although my Insights aren't as comfortable as pressure switches or just a regular pad on the back end of the light. But it depends on the weapon and rail/mount system. Everybody has different hand and finger sizes so somethings can be hard to figure. Like I don't know how guys manage switches on a vfg without pressing them by accident.
In a pinch you can put those WMLs on a pistol too.

@Brut Faberge Do you have a XC1 on a pistol by chance? For me that's the most uncomfortable and awkward light ever.

When you retire, unless you own businesses or lucrative investments your income is fixed if you live off savings, pensions or similar. Gaming out your end date isn't that easy and retirement plans ain't what they used to be. You can't just pick up some overtime next week to make up for buying a new handgun or whatever.

At least it won't break before your gun lol something to be said for offhand lights versus guiderod lasers and grip lasers and a bunch of stuff hanging off the front of your pistol.

@Brut Faberge The switches. Even though its the "wrong way to grip a handgun" my support hand thumb goes over the top of my other thumb and you just can't use the XC1 that way. It forces you to have a "proper" grip which I absolutely hate.

@Brut Faberge And the mount. I almost forgot. The way the XC1 mounts is terrible. I've already broken the mount once just unscrewing it. The bar that slides through the rail... Not enough material left once its drilled and threaded for the mounting screw... It just snapped....if that makes sense.

@BravoSeven Yeah that sucks. Other than finger on the trigger and pointing at what you're trying to hit there's no proper way to hold a gun. If you even watch shooting competitions not all shooters hold the same way. Do what feels good and allows for accuracy. If it don't feel good you're never going to shoot and what's the point? Sell that junk on eBay or maybe pay it forward on ar15.com. You could sell it on Amazon too.

@BravoSeven It does make sense. That's pretty shoddy design for a surefire. They should fix it no questions asked.

@Brut Faberge They sent me a new mounting bracket. I was asked if I'd ever received a replacement mount for free before. The guy didn't come out and say it but I got the feeling that if it happened again Surefire would charge something for the next replacement.

@BravoSeven NotSoSureFire smh that sucks. Sig may use Indian parts but they never got nasty about fixing things with me.

@Brut Faberge And for those who don't have money for expensive photon emitters one of my favorite YouTubers 704 Tactical found a $20 weapon light that won't die.
I love how he finds this stuff I click past and it's bombproof pride of China craftsmanship. That's not sarcasm.
Don't feel bad if you have to save a lot or buy stuff that "elite" aholes think is trash. Do the most with what you're given. That's all anyone can do in life.

@Brut Faberge I've got an X300 and a TLR1H, I like the TLR more, have a buddy who has a SCAR17 and has to have all the Gucci stuff, he now realized why I buy the streamlights, they just flat out work and you don't have to sell a kidney to get one.

Is your x300 on a pistol or rifle? What gives your tlr the edge?
Surefire is a good company. Streamlight is too. I'd rather have 2 protac hlx's and a surefire g2x for $250 altogether than one x300.

@Brut Faberge The X300 lives on my FNX-45 Tactical, its about the only gun i actually like it on. It's just so long, I like how compact the Streamlight is. It was on my P320RX that I had frankensteined into a 19X configuration before it was cool. Now it lives on my 10.3" AR pistol. I like it on that because I use it as my handstop, and it is compact and light enough you really do not notice it is there

@Brut Faberge A negligent discharge from a flashlight in the right environment can be far more deadly than a N/D of a bullet.

If I had tripped and shined my light on certain night time patrols overseas, it would have been bad news bears.

@Brut Faberge Yep it's mine! Nah, I'm not that cranky. Hell, my day job is to drive a V8 Charger and catch bad guys; how cranky could I be?

I was worried about using spray paint at first, but figured if I botched the job too much I could send it over to Blown Deadline ceracote and get it done professionally after saving up a bit of moolah. A matte SUV would be time consuming, but would probably be super cool and not too hard to strip with a power washer if you dont like it.

When I build a pistol with this Anderson lower I may try to spray it or cerakote. I'm scared I'll make a mess and be ashamed lol
I've seen people do cool stuff with plastidip on cars. Maybe a cheap way to reverse it if I hate it.

@Brut Faberge I believe they are the 5.7L supercharged Hemi engine, but what makes them truly fast is the AWD. The acceleration on all terrain is excellent, in all types of weather.

@Will That's pretty badass. That sounds like big fun except for what you actually need it for. I'd be tempted to air it out on empty roads.

Inforce products ain't exactly cheap. I've never seen them marketed that way. Have you? 90 bucks for a small pocket flashlight ain't exactly bargain bin. $165 for a pistol light? Cheaper than Surefire but not primary arms stuff. Maybe some of the cheapest ir capable weapon lights from a company that has military contracts.

When I think budget AR stuff I think of all the chicom special crap that you'd throw on an Anderson $30 lower/PSA build.
