The legal definition of a rifle per the BATFE is a “weapon designed or redesigned, made or remade, and intended to be fired from the shoulder and designed or redesigned and made or remade to use the energy of the explosive in a fixed metallic cartridge to fire only a single projectile through a rifled bore for each single pull of the trigger.“ We’ve already seen companies like Franklin Armory tackle the “rifled bore” characteristic and SB Tactical with the forearm brace rather than a stock. But now an entrepreneurial inventor has received approval for a device designed to supported on the shooters bicep.
Heston Kent received written approval for the AR15 Bicep Brace as it relates to a pistol and not a short barreled rifle as the law specifies. The Bicep Brace offers the shooter a “shoulder-fired experience without using the shoulder” and even touts recoil controllability over its stock counterparts.
Even if the Bicep Brace needs additional refinement before entering the commercial market, it is a prime example of how technology and necessity can prove that U.S. gun laws are ridiculous.

This brace utilizes a standard carbine buffer tube, and gives a platform that allows the shooter to stabilize their AR pistol without using their shoulder, using their upper arm or bicep region. It folds up into something that is just as thin as a traditional shoulder stock, so you don’t have an awkward extension sitting out for your bicep when you don’t need it.
In short, it gives you a near-‘shoulder fired’ experience without using or touching your shoulder. My latest testing of the brace has the muzzle rise mitigated to something that’s very close to a traditional shoulder stock, as you can see in the demo video.
