New Rainier Arms 9mm Billet Receiver Set

New Rainier Arms 9mm PCC Billet Receiver Set

Rainier Arms now offers a billet AR-15 style pistol caliber carbine receiver set. It was first introduced during TriggrCon 2018 firearms convention and now it is available for preorder. No matter if you are saying it in all seriousness or with sarcasm towards the industry trend, I can hear you asking “But, does it take Glock mags?”. Yes, it does! Now let’s take a look at other features of this new PCC receiver set.

The Rainier Arms 9mm Billet Receiver set is CNC machined out of 7075-T6 aluminum and features a mil-spec hard coat anodized finish resulting in a surface hardness of 60 Rockwell. Currently, this set is available only in black color option.

The lower receiver has an ambidextrous bolt release mechanism and built-in last round bolt hold open feature. Besides the proprietary bolt catch and magazine release that this set comes with, other parts you’ll need to complete the lower receiver are standard AR-15 lower receiver parts.

Although the company does state that the lower receiver of this set is compatible with aftermarket Glock magazines, they recommend using factory Glock mags. This receiver set is compatible with Glock magazines designed for the 9x19mm, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG cartridges. That being said, I think it is safe to say that despite being named a 9mm receiver set it is also possible to use these receivers for building PCCs chambered in .40 S&W or .357 SIG.

The flat top upper receiver has no forward assist. It also lacks a dust cover or a provision to install one. The ejection port size is optimized to ensure reliable ejection of the spent cases or unfired rounds.
