Anderson Manufacturing has introduced a new red dot sight called Advanced Micro Dot. Actually, the complete model designation of this product is “Anderson Manufacturing Advanced Micro Dot With Removable Base and Rotary Knob” which is abbreviated to AM-MD-AD-RK. Let’s take a look at its features.

The new red dot sight features a 2 MOA dot which is advertised to be “ultra sharp“. The dot size selection is explained as being an “excellent compromise of both speed and accuracy” meaning that it is small enough to allow making relatively precise shots and at the same time it is large enough to make the dot acquisition easier for quick target engagements.

The Advanced Micro Dot sight is powered by a single CR2032 battery which is probably located inside the brightness adjustment turret – a common solution seen in many sights of this type. The sight has 11 dot brightness settings with the lowest two settings being night vision device compatible. The adjustments of the dot are made in one MOA increments. The overall adjustment range is 60 MOA both for windage and elevation. The battery life of this red dot sight is 50,000 hours at the medium brightness setting.

This Anderson Manufacturing red dot sight is made of 6061 aluminum and features a Type II anodized matte black finish. It comes with a Picatinny rail riser. The internal space of the sight is nitrogen purged which makes it fog proof. The lenses are fully multi-coated. It is also advertised to be waterproof having an IP57 rating which means it is protected against short periods of immersion in water. The company claims that the sight can survive submersion to one-meter depth for 30 minutes. The overall length of this sight is 2.54″ and it weighs 5.4 oz. Unfortunately, there is no information concerning the parallax.

Who does the market research, the RDS market seems a little over saturated. I don’t see anything new this brings to the market if I was a solid low cost RDS I go PA/Holosun with ACSS, if I want bombproof, life and liberty I go aimpoint maybe Trijicon.
If I am Anderson I look in getting in the QD mount market, it seems like their business is more suited for that market.
